Bethany Powell James
VP Digital Products & Experience Design
As the Vice President of Digital Products & Experience Design at National Geographic, Bethany Powell James leads a cross-functional team of designers and product managers who deliver National Geographic’s websites, apps, community platforms, and immersive storytelling experiences. Bethany's work has received widespread recognition for design and digital storytelling from the Society of Publication Designers, Society of News Design, Online News Association, Communication Arts, Digiday, The Webbys, and more. Prior to joining National Geographic's digital staff, Bethany designed projects for photographers and their publishers including Dewi Lewis Publishing, Editorial RM, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Kerher Verlag. Bethany holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Yale University School of Art and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography from the Art Institute of Boston.
